TWO DANCERS ONE SPACE
EDINBURGH FRINGE FESTIVAL 2013
"Two independent dance artists explore whether or not we ever quite get there..."
Oliver J Anwyl & Sam K Potts
About This Project
Since February 2013 they have been researching, creating and developing their work together for their project: Two Dancers..One Space.
Two Dancers One Space was a work-in-progress piece which explored notion of the point of departure.
From Oliver and Sam’s research and process they have discovered that the point of departure between journeys is very rapid and instantaneous; which has informed their choreographic methodology for their work.
Their work explores provocation and articulation to endorse pathways considering whether movement is allowed to digress and where their destination may be and whether it is reached to its full extent in a physiological and kinaesthetic form. Some pathways can end abruptly and swiftly become distorted. A baseline for Oliver & Sam's choreographic inquiry has formed on their interest on the Japanese philosophical concept of Wabi-Sabi. The art of imperfection and thus their movement vocabulary has been informed in synergy with their primary enquiry of the point of departure.
Oliver & Sam would like to extend thanks to the following people for supporting this project to be a success.
Jai Hutchison (Insights Coordinator), Murray Grant, Catherine Windle & Annette Potts
